Class Room is Ready

Thanks to my daughter Kelsey my classroom is ready for the year. She has painted, cleaned out, organized, and decorated the whole classroom all by herself. She is just full of wonderful ideas.

We will be hunting for Pete's lost shoes throughout the school on our orientation days Monday and Tuesday.

This is my daughter Keeley. She had her first day of kindergarten. Kelsey made this frame for me so that I could take pictures of each of my students on their first day of kindergarten.
Our beginning of school Open House theme was Hollywood. Keeley is posing on the red carpet.
This is Ms. Jennifer, Keeley's teacher and my co-worker. We have 5 more K teachers as well. Keeley is so excited to be in Ms. Jennifer's class and about me teaching kindergarten this year.
Now it is time to start planning for the next week. Yes brought work home this weekend. I told myself I was NOT going to do that but it always happens.

So it begins

We had a great vacation in Destin, Florida. Now it is time to start the new school year. Tomorrow is the first day for students in our county. My school had an open house Monday night so that parents and students could meet their teachers. I was unable to be there because we were on a much needed vacation. This afternoon I will host a "meet and greet" in my class room. Kelsey has work so hard this summer getting my class room ready. She has been a God send this summer. I hope to take some pictures today to post of my new class room. This year will be very different for me. I haven't taught kindergarten in 10 years. It has changed a  lot. Also my baby girl will be in kindergarten this year. She is so excited about going to school. Wish me luck. I wish for everyone to have a great school year.

Precious Memories

On July 30th I had the one of the saddest days of my life. My mother passed away with my brother, myself, and our families with her. It was a precious but very sad moment. Some of you may have read that my mother moved in with us the Saturday before Memorial Day. From that day forward her health decreased very quickly. I love my mother so much and we talked daily sometimes several times a day. I will miss her dearly. I don't think a moment has gone by this past week that she has not been on my mind. Like I have said before, I don't know how I would have made it through this summer without my wonderful daughters. They have each been so helpful in their own special way. It has only been 3 months since my dad passed away. I rest knowing that mom and dad are together and are now suffering anymore. It was so hard to see them so sick. They were both such strong people my whole life. I love them both so much.

Today, Kelsey and I were able to accomplish a lot in my class room. She has helped me so much. We hope to get finished this week or almost anyway. I hope to post pictures soon.

I hope you have had a great summer.

Don't know what I would do without my girls

With so much going on at home with my mom living with us now, I don't know what I would do without my middle child, Kelsey. She is 20 years old and home from college for the summer. As I have mentioned I suddenly found out that I was changing classrooms and grades. My daughter has put it upon herself to paint my new room. She is doing an amazing job. She is looking forward to decorating and organizing it as well. She helped me redo my room last summer and she did an excellent job. I can't wait to see what she does this year. Hopefully when things settle with mom a little I will be able to go help her.

My oldest daughter, Kayla ,(22) has been home with us since Wednesday and I couldn't do this without her either. Mom was discharged from the hospital Wednesday

and since then I have not been able to lift her by myself as she has completely lost all ability to move. Thankfully my daughter is able to help me. The home health care that we have is working on getting her in a rehab center. As bad as we all hate to put her in a  facility at this point I don't feel we have another choice.

My baby girl, Keeley who is 5, has been great through all of this. She has been so sweet and understanding.

Before long I really plan for this Kindergarten blog to actually talk about kindergarten. As for now, it has become my outlet.

Here they having fun with the Barbie Photo Booth that my oldest daughter made for Keeley's birthday party.

More unexpected changes

Due to sickness, my mother will now be living with us. She needs 24 hour care. Somehow we will manage but life has suddenly gone from very difficult to extremely difficult. It is almost more than I can handle.

This summer will be challenging to say the least. As mentioned in a previous post I am changing from 3rd grade to Kindergarten after 10 years of teaching 3rd grade. So on the last day of school all of my things were packed and moved to my new home away from home "Room B-12". Lots of stuff stacked up high. My middle daughter, she is 20, will start painting it tomorrow with the help of one of her friends. We will be bring my mother home from the hospital as well. My baby girl, she is 5, is on a competitive dance team and we go to Nationals July 27-29 in Destin, Florida. So will be returning from the beach 2 days before school start. Sometime during all of this my classroom will have to be set up and ready to go before we leave for the beach on July 23rd.

I am quiet overwhelmed. My mind is in a constant spin.

Wish me luck!

Preschool Graduation

Friday was my daughter's graduation form Purple Turtle Academy Preschool. It was a very sweet program filled with laughter and songs. They performed a special skit to Pete the Cat. My daughter, Keeley, was the narrator. She did an excellent job turning the pages at just the right time while the other students paraded around the room "singing this song". I am so proud of Keeley and the great year she had at preschool. She is well prepared for kindergarten.
Keeley and I will both be entering kindergarten this August. I taught kindergarten for 11 years but I have been teaching 3rd grade for 10 years. I will be teaching kindergarten again next year. New adventures for both of us.I am excited to share this new beginning with my precious little girl.

Changes are upon me.

You just never know what life will bring. I found out Tuesday (which was the day before the last day of school) that I will be teaching kindergarten next year. I have taught 3rd grade for 10 years so this is a major change. I taught kindergarten before I taught 3rd grade but many things have changed. I am excited and ready to start getting my room ready. The floors will be waxed by the end of next week and paint will be delivered. Then the work begins. I will be looking all over for room decorating and organization ideas.
